Target Audience

You need to examine who your target audience is to understand how to effectively use these promotion techniques.

The following website categories should have these target audiences as their main theme:

National Regional County Branch MEP Candidate
Anyone interested in UKIP. People looking to find out who their MEP are. People looking to find county-wide information on UKIP meetings, branches etc. Information on the branch: Information on the MEP: Information on the candidate:
National Press People trying to find information on UKIP locally. Events, meetings, local issues, AGM, committee, contact details etc. Events, meetings, speeches, campaigns, how to contact etc. Events, meetings, policies, how to contact etc.

Peer to peer

Peer to peer or word of mouth is the most powerful way to quickly result in large amounts of visitors. This is where a visitor to your site is sufficiently impressed to tell other people about the website.

Search engines

Search engines such as Google, Yahoo or MSN will be another major source of visitors discovering your website. Don't bother with search engine optimisation unless you know what you are doing. Concentrate on making your website informative.

However, make sure that you have the title element with a descriptive short title for your web page and the meta elements with keywords and a longer description.

Links

Cross-reference from other sites such as http://www.ukip.org/ and other branch websites will be a source of significant visitors, people who are much more likely to be interested in the site content.

Online directories are useful to get quality links to your site.

Direct

Direct visitors are visitors who have been given the URL on paper, for example in your local newsletter. An effective way to get people to visit the site.
